Hi, I’m Kelsie Stelting, author of Raising the West.

It's the first book of it's kind, detailing the oral history of Western Kansas women born in the "silent generation." In intimate conversations, they spoke of growing up in the 1930s and how much life has changed in their years.

But it all started with wanting to know my own family story. I sat down with my grandma and asked her all about her life. When we were done, we both felt so much better, and I knew by hearing her story, I'd saved something more precious than gold: her memory.

You don't have to be a trained writer to save your family's story. All you need is a little guidance and an ear to listen.

Now is the time to learn how to preserve those memories most precious to you.
